Most identity thefts start with your name, date of birth and social security number. Once these things are attained it is easy to get other things such as a copy of a license or other valuable documents. Always shred any of this information especially license numbers, phone numbers etc.
Many things can tip you off to the fact that your identity has been stolen such as letters saying your credit card has been denied, your a part of a data breach, you have medical bills you don’t understand and others. This exact situation happened to a married woman in Paramus and did not get cleared up for almost two years. She realized all too late the importance of shredding your information and not simply putting it in the garbage.
Don’t be a victim of identity theft. make sure all confidential information is shredded and destroyed.
